La Florida Cooperative

Created 52 years ago, La Florida Cooperative is an community of small coffee farmers with currently 821 coffee partners. All the members believe that is vital to care and support the natural cycle of the land having a balance ecosystem. Even though the cooperative is certified as a producer of organic coffee and in Fair Trade, now they are embarking in a new adventure to apply technology in two different aspects: to improve the coffee process and to present to their customers a transparent way to see the process and to know the people that are part of it.

La Florida Farms

Chanchamayo, Junín, Perú

Located in the Chanchamayo region of northeast Peru, the farms of the coop are small (Chacras), around 2 to 4 Ha. The cooperative gather coffee farmers from 18 regions. It has one treatment plants for coffee wet milling in La Florida and another in Eneñas, as well as a collection center in Salsipuedes. The majority of the farms have Inga and other native forestall trees shade. After the yellow rust diminished in 2013 more that the 70% of the production, the cooperative struggle greatly; but thanks to the relentless efforts of their members a deep restructuration took place in 2017 to encourage the adaptation of new technology and strengthening relations with customers to understand their needs and respond to their requirements.
