Inherited from his grandparents and parents, Diego has a connection with the countryside since he was very young, when he was surrounded by crops not only of coffee but also of rice, cotton, sorghum and corn. Diego entered the world of coffee in 2008, when one of his sisters, who worked at Amor Perfecto, showed him the opportunities that he could have in the coffee industry. Diego knows first-hand the coffee process from planting to cupping. Diego currently works as a professional barista. The year 2021 marked a turning point in his career and in his life. Thanks to the perseverance and dedication that has characterized him, Diego, representing Colombia, won the world barista championship. Diego and his family have been surrounded by various opportunities that coffee has given them, and what he started as a job became a profession and a lifestyle that fills them with pride and satisfaction.

Farm

La Plata, Huila, Colombia


The Diamante farm located in the Vereda Alto Pescado in the municipality of La Plata Huila has a total area of 7 Ha, of which 6.5 Ha are dedicated to the cultivation of coffee of the varieties: Castillo, Colombia, Bourbon Rosado and Caturra. In addition to self-consumption they have small crops of bananas, onions, corn, carrots, tomatoes, cassava, beans and raise cattle and chickens.

Diego (32) and Derlín (26), have a daughter Sofía (2). His greatest strength is discipline and dedication to work. He longs to be able to make El Diamante an reference farm for producers where high quality coffee can be offered to the market. For Colombia to be a country that consumes high quality coffee and lastly he wants to teach his daughter the art of coffee and continue with the family tradition.

Derlín Roa

Derlin(26) wife of Diego(32). She supervises the coffee processes when it comes time to harvest, she likes to ensure that the processes are carried out in the best way. She is the daughter of coffee growers, she met her husband and has learned about barista and cupping. She dreams of continuing with the farm project so that coffee is known much more and teaching her daughter Sofía about it.

José Pucha

Don José Edgar (52) has 2 children with his partner Julia (49): Edgar Giovanni (30) and John Edison (28). Don José entered the world of coffee 11 years ago, he is in charge of the administration and sometimes also of harvesting and drying. His greatest strength is being a hard-working, dedicated, punctual and responsible person. He dreams of working on his own farm, keeping his family together and having a good house with aqueduct and electricity.
