Tras la Perla

Decolonizing Colombian Coffee

Typically, the countries that produce the coffee you buy see very little of the wealth that coffee creates. In the current commodity export model, beans are roasted not by the hands that picked them but thousands of miles away, in the country that consumes them. The producer is paid just a small fraction of the final sales price. By the time the beans are roasted, they are many months old. By the time they are sold, they have lost their flavor.
At Amor Perfecto because our beans are harvested by hand, high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and masterfully roasted in Bogotá, our coffees taste as nature intended: rich, complex, Café Colombiano. Our growers earn at least twice as much on average, and more than half of every dollar spent remains in Colombia to produce jobs, to grow the community and to grow the industry that supports it.
This marks a 500% increase in value for Colombia.
Beans, roasted while fresh, at-origin -because the coffee you love should be perfect, and those who labored to make it should profit from its sale.
In partnership with multiple Grammy award winner Carlos Vives, an additional 25% of proceeds will go to his Tras La Perla Foundation, which is committed to unleashing the innovative potential of vulnerable communities in the Caribbean Colombian Region.
