Elsa Gutmann Melo Betania Farm

My photo

In 1997 Doña Elsa decided to buy the farm and move to the countryside. At that time the farm had 20000 coffee plants, and she did not know much about coffee, but then she was invited to be part of a pilot project to grow organic coffee. During those years, slowly but with strong believes, she almost doubled the number of coffee plants in the farm.
She is making a positive difference in the region by generating work in the community.

Betania's People

Betania Farm

Anolaima, Cundinamarca Colombia

Betania is a 10 hectares farm. Almost all the area is cultivated with coffee. Doña Elsa knows how important is to have a balanced ecosystem in the farm so she also grows plantains, guamo and various leguminous plants. She is proud of her coffee being organic and they produce their own fertilizer in the farm. The farm is located in the Tequendama region and is becoming a center of innovation in the organic coffee production.
